Science



SCIENCE AREA PLAN


Science Labs notes:

  • Science Labs will be set up to be shared by the staff. Each floor of the classroom wing will be fitted with five science classrooms that break down as follows:
    • 1st Floor:
      • Four full-blown science labs
      • One Project-Based Learning Lab
      • One Science Office able to accommodate up to 6 teachers
    • 2nd and 3rd Floors:
      • Two full-blown science labs
      • Two light science labs
      • One Project-Based Learning Lab
      • One Science Office able to accommodate up to 6 teachers
  • Full-blown Science Labs:
    • Will be equipped with peninsula sinks with trough-type tops.
    • All lab stations will be outfitted with gas, air, hot and cold water, and rods.
    • Fume hood station will be located at a center peninsula 
    • ADA accessible sink will be provided in the front of the room.
    • Teachers demo station will be shifted to one side of the classroom
    • Markerwall with projection will be located at the front of the room 
    • Tackwall surfaces will be located adjacent to the classroom doors.
  • Light Science Labs:
    • Will be provided with 4 sinks located in along the wall (no peninsulas)
    • Teachers demo station will be shifted to one side of the classroom.
    • Base and wall cabinets will be roughly half the amount of a full lab.
    • Front wall will include markerwall and tackwall.
  • Prep Room:
    • A shared prep room uniting all of the labs will be provided.
    • Access to the Prep Room from the Corridor is also provided.
    • The room will include sinks, storage cabinets, refrigerators, a dishwasher, flammable storage, etc. 
  • Project-Based Learning Lab:
    • This is essentially a computer lab for a Science class that would be used for projects support.
    • Computer stations would be located on the perimeter of the room.
    • A teachers demo station similar to standard Science Rooms would be provided.
    • Access to the Science Office will be provided.
    • Tables configuration is  shown are for reference purposes only. These are considered loose furnishings and not part of the construction project (they may end up different than shown)
  • Science Offices:
    • Larger Office area set up as home base for the Science faculty.
    • Up to 6 workstations can be facilitated in the room.
    • General storage, and office equipment will be provided.
    • This space provides great opportunity for faculty to collaborate on curriculum.
