Music





Music notes:

  • Band Room:
    • Band Room is approximately 88' long x 65' wide x 30' tall.
    • Windows will be provided into the Band Room from the adjacent offices.
    • An overhead coiling door will be provided from the room into a vestibule leading to the exterior.
    • Percussion Ensemble/Percussion Storage room will be accessible from the Band Room.
    • Door to the room will align with the access to the Instrument Storage room across the hall.
    • Acoustical treatment of the walls and ceiling surfaces will be provided.
    • No loading dock is required on the exterior of the building for band loading. 
    • Projection surface will be located up high on the front wall of the Band Room with marker surface below.
  • Choral Room:
    • Riser storage will be located directly adjacent to the room.
    • A mirror wall with curtains will be provided  
    • A smaller ensemble room will be located directly adjacent to the Choral Room. this room will also include a mirror wall.
    • A small practice room will be located directly adjacent to the Choral Room
    • The Choral office will not have visibility into the room.
    • Clerestory windows will be provided on the north side of the choir room into the corridor of the Music wing. Window to the exterior will be provided up high on the north wall of the corridor.
  • Media/Digital Music Room:
    • This room will be set up similar to a computer lab
    • The room will likely also be used for Music History.
    • Markerboard and projection will be provided at the front of the room.
    • The room could be used as another practice room for a group smaller than would fit in the Choral Room.
    • Storage for keyboards, etc. would be located directly adjacent to the room.
  • Instrument Storage:
    • This room would be located directly off of the primary Music Suite corridor for student access to pick up instruments.
    • The room will have a distinct entry and exit so that students will not be bumping into each other as they retrieve their instruments.
    • Cabinets will be provided for all of the different instrument types expected.
  • Offices/Storage
    • The Receptionist/Administration Assistant will be located in an open area off of the primary Music corridor.
    • A conference room will be provided off of the corridor.
    • The music Library will have 2 doors for access from the Band directors and the Choral director.
    • The Band Offices will be located adjacent to the Band room so that they can have visibility into the room.
    • Storage rooms will be provided in the area for equipment and uniforms/robes etc.
    • Other ensemble rooms will be provided off of the circulation loop around the office area. These rooms will include a markerboard for instruction purposes.
    • Acoustical treatments of all rooms where music practice will be occurring will be provided. 
  • Second Story
    • Mechanical spaces will utilize mezzanine area on second floor above. This will also provide opportunity for additional storage in the second floor. This will be reviewed further as the plans develop.
  • External Storage
    • A non-heated band storage room will be provided with garage door access from the exterior. This room will be detached from the building but will be connected to an external screen wall for electrical equipment.
