Auditorium

AUDITORIUM FIRST FLOOR PLAN

AUDITORIUM NOTES:
The auditorium will have approximately 1,000 seats, with half of the seating on a sloped floor towards the stage and the rear half set in"stadium" seating to maximize excellent sight lines of the performance area.
The auditorium is served by a separate lobby that is located off of the main entry corridor for the High School Office.  The theater office and ticket booth are located in the lobby, as are public restrooms.  Sound and light traps from the lobby to the seating area will prevent unwanted light and sounds from seeping into the auditorium during a performance.
The sound control booth is located in the middle of the main seating area, off of the main cross aisle.  This location is the ideal placement to achieve the best balance within the space.
The cross aisle separates the upper and lower seating, and is at the same level as the lobby and the stage.  This will allow for handicapped access to the stage from the audience.  This is especially important for awards assemblies!
The lighting control booth is located above the lobby at the upper most part of the space, at the back of the seating.
The auditorium is served with 2 elevated catwalks that are accessible from back stage and are connected to each other.  They have been modeled to achieve the ideal placement for light sets and sound reinforcement equipment mounting.
Acoustical baffles and clouds are suspended above the seating area to achieve the best acoustical environment for all types of spoken and musical performances.
The stage is an impressive 35 feet deep by 125 feet wide.  There is an orchestra pit that, when closed, adds an additional 245 square feet to the front of the stage, in front of the main curtain.  The proscenium opening is 30 feet tall by 58 feet wide; large enough to accommodate a full band performance or a major musical, and yet, the rigging system will allow for the stage to be re-framed for more intimate performances.
Back stage has a full set shop, dressing rooms, offices, costume shop and storage, and is connected to all parts of the auditorium with intercom and closed circuit tv.

BLACK BOX THEATER:
  • Adjacent to the Auditorium, with access off the Lobby, is a Black Box Theater.
  • Control Booth for the Black Box theater will be located on the Second Floor and is sized large enough to support a class. This area can also used for light storage and repair.
  • A perimeter catwalk around the black box will be provided with access to the Second floor Lobby area and the adjacent Theater Storage room.
  • A moderate rigging system will also be provided for the Black Box Theater.
THEATER CLASSROOM:
  • A Theater Classroom is provided with access to the backstage corridor and to the Main Commons Corridor.  This room will also function as a "Green Room" for performances.
