Pool


 
1st floor pool plan
SWIMMING POOL NOTES:

  • 50 Meter pool with 2 (two) movable bulkheads.
  • Width of the pool will be 25 yards to allow competition or practice across the pool.
  • Competition starting blocks will be located on the west end of the pool.
  • (4) 1 meter boards and (1) 3meter board will be provided at the east end of the pool.

  • Pool depths will be 8'-0" at the starting blocks, 4'-0" in the center of the pool, and 14'-0" in the diving well.
  • A warming area will be provided behind the diving boards with a bench and heating lamps.
  • Scoring platform is provided near the starting blocks end of the pool.
  • Pool scoreboard will be provided on an angled wall/bulkhead at the southwest corner of the pool volume.
  • Spectator seating will be on the second floor over the locker rooms along the north side side of the pool. Seating will accommodate at least 700 spectators.
  • 2nd floor pool plan
  • Bleachers in the spectator area will be retractable to allow the floor area to be used for instruction purposes, etc.
POOL LOCKER ROOMS:

  • There will be 4 locker rooms provided for swimming activities.
  • The two locker rooms under the spectator seating to the north of the pool will be used for P.E. and community swimming. Each locker room will have 150 box lockers (each locker will be 1' x 1' x 1' - six lockers stack) and 50 - 3' x 1' x 1' lockers (in a two tier configuration - total locker ht. will be 6'-0") 
  • The two locker rooms located to the west of the pool will be utilized for athletics. They will each include 70 - 6' x 1' x 1' lockers.

  • There will be 3 offices provided with restrooms attached. The office near the athletics locker rooms will be larger and will include 2 individual restrooms attached to it.
CLASSROOM/HOSPITALITY ROOM

  • A Pool classroom will be provided to the north of the pool with access to the pool deck and the Lobby area. 
  • This room will include a sink, refrigerator, cabinets and counter space to allow it to be used as a hospitality room during meets.
  • Views to the pool and the Lobby will be provided from the room.
STORAGE

  • Large Storage Rooms are provided at both the west and east ends of the pool with access directly off the pool deck.

Nurse






Nurse’s Area
·         The entry to the Nurse Area would be from the Student Commons for ease of access and convenience. 
o   The waiting area would be screened from the treatment area, and have space for a desk for a student aid to check students into the area.
o   There would be a locked storage area off of the waiting area.  This would be large enough to accommodate crutches, wheelchair, and first aid supplies.
o   A hallway would connect the Nurse Offices and Exam Room with the treatment area.
·         The Nurse’s Offices
o   Each office would be set up to act as an exam room and would have a hand wash sink and, locked, closed cabinet storage.
o   The office closest to the treatment area would have a window in the wall for observation.
·         The Treatment Area:
o   There would be 10 beds/stations in the treatment area.  There would be draw curtains around each bed.
o   In the center of the room there would be a stand-up island with storage below.  There would be room on both sides of the island for a medicine cart that would be metal and lockable.
o   At the north end of the room there would be a counter with a hand wash sink with goose neck faucet that is sensor activated.
o   All of the closed cabinet storage above and below would be  lockable.
o   There would be provision for an ice machine and a lockable refrigerator.
o   Note the direct exit from the treatment room for emergency exiting or entry into the space.
o   There is also a good proximity to the Training Room if there are conditions that require additional medical attention.

Health / Cardio / Trainer



Health Classrooms
  • ·         There are 2 Health Classrooms that are slightly larger than the typical classrooms to be able to accommodate demonstration items such as CPR dummies.
  •          The Casework will be similar to a typical classroom.


The Main Training Room
·      
         The Main Training Room is centrally located to be able to serve the student athlete population in proximity to the main student commons, as well as the P.E. gym, Fieldhouse, Weight Room, and Pool.
·         
    There are 6 stations for individual treatment with storage above and space for a rolling cart adjacent to the table.
o   There is a stand-up counter in the center of the room with storage below.  This will provide access to supplies for the individual activity tables.
o   There will be space for an ice machine in the south west corner, and a handwash sink in the northeast corner of the room.
·      There is a “hydro room” to accommodate at least 2 to 3 Hydro Units on the south end of the Training Room.
o   The wall between the treatment area and the hydro room would be ½ height glass for good visibility.
o   There would be a counter with sink and storage above and below.
o   The room would have water supply and a floor drain.
·       The Training Room Office
o   Located on the northwest end of the room, this office would accommodate the primary trainer with a ½ glass light in the door for visibility.
o   The room adjacent would be a storage room for additional supplies, such as crutches, wheel chairs, stretchers, etc.

The Cardio Room
·         
    The Cardio Room is a large, open room that would accommodate cardio equipment, such as stationary bikes, treadmills, etc.
  •      There would be mirror on the east wall
  •      Electrical connections to the equipment will be determined after equipment layout is confirmed

Journalism


Journalism Rooms Plan


Journalism Classrooms
·      The Journalism Area is comprised of the following:  A Workroom/Layout Room designed for 32 computer stations, a Journalism Classroom also designed for 32 station, a large Project room, and a Storage Room.
  •        There will be windows in the wall between the Journalism Workroom and the Classroom.
  •        The areas are laid out to accommodate a flow between spaces to facilitate collaborative activities, related to Journalism.
  •         The set of rooms is located off of the main student commons to accommodate easy access by students for newsworthy production of stories and articles.

·         The Classroom and Workroom:
  •          Each space is designed to accommodate 32 computer stations. 
  •       There will be white boards on the walls to facilitate “pin-up” work.
  •          The wall between these rooms will be filled with ½ height windows to allow vision between the rooms.
  •         It is assumed that students may work in both rooms during a class period
  • Typical classroom casework is provided for these rooms near the entrances.
  • The north wall of the rooms that is shared with the Project room and the storage room is an existing load bearing wall, that restricts the configurations available for the rooms.
·         The Project Room:
  •      This room is accessible from both the Journalism Workroom and the Classroom
  • The room includes a kitchenette one end
  • Markerboards will be provided on the walls 
  • Open area in the center of the room is provided to accommodate layout tables or a large conference room set up.
      Storage Room

  • This room will be accessed off of the Journalism Classroom.
  • It includes one wall of built-in tall storage cabinets.
